About Breeze

At Breeze, we are building towards a future where people spend less time on their phones and more time connecting in real life.

The Breeze app is the dating app for real dates. We've built the world's first service that organizes actual offline dates at scale. On Breeze, users skip the online chat — once you match, you pick a time, and we organize a real-life date at one of our partnered venues.

So far we've organized close to 400.000 dates and are live in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, the UK and New York.

About the role

Your mission is to make everyone at Breeze more productive by building and maintaining the tooling, infrastructure and automation that make the company run.

You'll be the first member of a new Platform Team. This means you'll be able to work on a wide variety of tasks with a lot of independence. At the same time, you’ll plug into a tightly connected company. We run active discipline-based guilds and you'll work with an engaged team of excellent developers. You'll also work closely with Daan, our Chief Product and Technology Officer, and Hans, our Lead Backend Developer.

Concretely, you will:

• Build internal tooling & infra – own CI/CD pipelines, observability, developer experience and shared services. Build internal infrastructure such as a notification scheduling system. Improve the infrastructure to make AI work better for our developers.

• Create QA & testing infrastructure – design frameworks and an infrastructure for automated tests that drive bugs down and confidence up.

• Integrate external systems – connect services such as marketing tech, AI tooling and more.

• Act as sparring partner – collaborate closely with our existing backend engineers, sharing knowledge and tackling complex challenges together.

• Level‑up our cloud stack – evolve our Kubernetes & Google Cloud Platform setup using Terraform and Helm for security, scalability and cost‑efficiency.

• Occasionally build product features – jump into our Golang/PostgreSQL codebase when a backend project needs extra muscle.

• Champion security – design and roll out organisation-wide security tooling such as Endpoint Detection & Response
  

About you

We're looking for a high-calibre builder who thrives on autonomy and breadth. Specifically:

• Smart & hungry – you learn quickly, think critically, put in the effort, and love solving ambiguous problems. Raw problem-solving ability matters more to us than the exact number of years you’ve spent with any particular tool or stack.

• Great backend developer – you're confident in at least one modern backend language (Go is a plus, not a must) and great at building reliable, maintainable services.

• DevOps & cloud savvy – you're comfortable with Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, CI/CD pipelines and observability systems—but not limited to these. You’ll have the autonomy to evaluate and introduce whatever tooling you believe will move the needle.

• Independent & resourceful – you can take a rough idea, discover what needs to be done and ship it.

• AI‑curious – you already leverage AI in your workflow or are keen to explore new AI tools that boost developer productivity.

• Security‑minded – you’ve implemented (or are eager to master) security best practices and tooling, like Endpoint Detection & Response
